We are looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to assist in our successful Physical Properties Testing Laboratory of our busy construction materials testing facility.

About us

Situated on the south coast of England, ACS Group of Companies was formed in 1987 to provide a quality construction material testing and consultancy. Over the past 30 years ACS has grown to include UKAS Accredited laboratories for both physical and chemical properties, generally aimed at the Construction and Environmental industry.

Since ACS Testing’s initial UKAS accreditation in 1990, our scope of testing has continually increased, and we continue to offer a comprehensive range of tests carried out to British and European standards and to approved in-house methods.

In our Physical Properties Testing laboratory, we test on a variety of materials including aggregates and soils, bituminous, concrete, mortar and screed, natural stone, and waste materials.

Key responsibilities to include:

  • Day to day construction materials testing on various products including fresh concrete, aggregates, soils and bituminous materials both in the laboratory and on-site visits
  • A strong focus on quality and health and safety
  • Data processing using general office programs and bespoke database laboratory system
  • Liaising with the Laboratory Supervisor and Senior Technicians to undertake various tasks and present findings in a professional manner
  • General laboratory duties

The candidate should have the following skills:

  • Enthusiastic, willingness to learn new skills and progress
  • Good IT skills
  • The ability to work alone or within a team and communicate with other office staff members confidently and professionally

The following skills are preferred but not essential:

Technical knowledge of our industry or similar
The successful applicant would gain technical knowledge from the business, potentially enabling them to progress into other Laboratory roles or other positions within the ACS Group of Companies.
