ACS have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, keen individual to learn the skills to start a career in geotechnical drilling and coring.

Do you enjoy working outside, travelling to new places, learning new skills and doing a job which is a little bit different? If so, ACS are looking for an individual to join our site investigation, drilling and coring team as an Assistant Driller. This role requires no previous experience or knowledge in drilling, and all training will be provided on the job. The role will have opportunities to progress your career to possibly become an NVQ qualified Lead Driller on one of our growing fleet of drilling and coring rigs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Operation of geotechnical windowless sampling drilling rigs and coring rigs;
  • Undertake geotechnical sampling, coring and in-situ testing;
  • Installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment;
  • Maintain company drilling rigs, equipment and vehicles to a high standard;
  • Follow company operational and health and safety procedures;
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the role and participate in training to become a future lead drilling operator.

The candidate should have the following attributes:

  • Strong communication skills to follow written and spoken instructions;
  • Willing to work throughout the UK and stay away overnight as contracts demand;
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills;
  • Personal motivation, organisation and self-management;
  • Possess a clean driving licence, ideally with 3 years’ driving experience.
  • Desirable but not essential skills:
  • Familiarity with construction industry safety standards and procedures
  • CSCS Training Card
  • Experience towing or driving plant.

Basic package details:

  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
  • Core Working Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a requirement for overtime working when necessary. There will also be a requirement for some early starts, night work and occasional weekend working.
  • Holidays: 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays.
  • Salary: Subject to qualifications & experience;
