An opportunity has arisen to appoint new full-time members of the team, based from our office in Poole, Dorset, BH16 6HX. ACS Testing Ltd, a Phenna Group Company have an exciting opportunity to appoint Graduate and Experienced Consultants to work from our head office in Poole, Dorset. ACS employees over 100 people nationally, with our consultancy and site investigation sector of the business currently employing more than 20 staff with a breadth of qualification and experience.

The scope of our work typically encompasses contaminated land and geotechnical desk studies, site investigation planning, execution and reporting, remediation planning and verification reporting, landfill monitoring, CQA and waste consultancy. We are supported by our in-house specialist services including geotechnical and chemical laboratories, as well as in-house drilling, coring and in-situ testing services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementation of environmental monitoring programmes at quarries, landfills and development sites;
  • Supervision of site investigation works including trial pitting, windowless drilling, and infiltration testing;
  • Preparation of desk-study and geo-environmental/geotechnical site investigation reports, including liaison with Clients and Regulators;
  • Development of testing schedules for physical and chemical parameters and liaison with our laboratory staff;
  • A strong focus on Quality and Health & Safety;

The candidate should have the following attributes:

  • A first degree in an Earth Sciences or Environmental Engineering discipline;
  • The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues and clients, using verbal and written skills;
  • Strong IT capabilities, including use of Office suite;
  • Enthusiasm and stamina for outdoor working and a willingness to learn new skills in support of career progression;
  • The ability to work effectively, either alone or within a team;
  • Full clean driving licence – company vehicles will be provided but some fieldwork may involve driving significant distances.

The following attributes are preferred but not essential:

  • Previous experience working in a Geoscience consultancy;
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant subject;
  • Knowledge of logging soils to BS5930 and HoleBASE geological logging software;
  • Experience of using 4WD vehicles in rough terrain.

Basic package details:

  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
  • Core Working Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a requirement for overtime working where necessary. This will include; early starts, later finishes, night working, occasional weekend working, and staying away through the working week.
  • Holidays: 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays.
