ACS have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, keen individual to learn the skills to start a career in the site investigation, drilling and coring industry.

ACS are looking for an experienced administrator to join our geoscience team as a Technical Administrative Coordinator. Experience of site investigation, drilling and coring is desirable; however, not essential.

The ideal candidate will be confident, outgoing and enthusiastic. They will have great telephone manner and excellent communication skills. They will be able to work alone and as part of a small team, communicating with other staff members confidently and professionally.

You will be involved in the set-up, management and day to day running and reporting of our site investigation teams undertaking a variety of site investigation, concrete, and highways coring projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Arrangement of the day-to-day operations of the drilling and coring teams;
  • Arrangement and liaison with sub-contractors and specialist service providers;
  • Arrangement of traffic management and permitting;
  • Booking projects and invoicing through our laboratory management system;
  • Monitoring the status of ongoing jobs as they progress through the business
  • Undertaking of core logging (with time, experience and training) including production of digital reporting;
  • Conducting site walkovers prior to drilling and coring (e.g. for access);
  • Arranging the maintenance of the drilling and coring rigs and associated equipment;
  • Arranging annual servicing and calibrations of the geoscience equipment;
  • Maintaining the stock levels of geoscience consumables;
  • Arranging sample storage, including offsite disposal;

Job Requirements:

  • Strong IT (particularly Excel and Word), numeracy and literacy skills;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Excellent telephone manner and written communication;
  • Previous experience in a similar administrative role;

Attributes which are advantageous but not essential:

  • Familiarity with construction industry safety standards and procedures;
  • Familiarity with drilling and highways coring works, or traffic management;
  • Knowledge of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS);
